Chelsea star Timo Werner blocks Roman Abramovich's transfer plans

 

Chelsea forward Timo Werner rejected a move to Inter Milan this summer, according to reports. The Germany international is ready to fight for his place under Thomas Tuchel following Romelu Lukaku's club-record arrival earlier this month

According to BILD, Inter wanted to sign Werner this summer and held talks with Chelsea over the transfer

The two clubs discussed Werner on the side whilst completing the £97.5million deal for Lukak

But he rejected Inter and refused to leave Stamford Bridge, despite Lukaku's imminent arriva

Werner has come across as excited to team up with Lukaku rather than feeling threatened over his l.u..He said: "He's probably one of the best three strikers in the world at the moment, no question.

"I don't think we need to say too much about him. He's a world-class striker who would benefit any team.

"I certainly think at RB Leipzig, it always helped me having a big striker alongside me.

"I think that's good because I'm not the biggest, and when you play on your own upfront, you obviously have the attention of one or two brawny defenders.

"It's a good new weapon to have in our game when you know if you play a long ball he'll hold it up and then the fast players around him can set off. I think that's good for any team."
