Recent revelations about what Erling Haaland’s agent demanded when trying to arrange his clients’ move to Chelsea showcase why Thomas Tuchel’s side purchased Romelu Lukaku instead.
The Blues purchased Lukaku earlier this month for a club record-breaking £97.5million from Inter Milan after an impressive 2020/21 campaign, where he scored 24 and assisted 11 in 36 appearances.
The Belgian made his second debut for the club last weekend against Arsenal, having departed Stamford Bridge in 2014 to Everton after a successful loan, and opened the scoring in a 2-0 victory.
After Timo Werner’s disappointing opening season in London, highlighting that he is much better utilised as a winger, Tuchel made it his priority to bring in an out and out no.9 this summer.
