Chelsea 'ready to open talks with Mason Mount over lucrative new £150,000 a week deal'

Chelsea are reportedly ready to reward midfielder Mason Mount with a new and improved contract following his impressive form over the past couple of seasons.

Mount has made huge progress and has established himself as a key player for club and country - including playing in the heart of England's midfield at Euro 2020 this summer.

The 22-year-old, who has been on Chelsea's books since the age of six, signed a five-year deal worth £75,000-a-week just over two years ago and has since lifted the Champions League trophy with the Blues.

At the point of signing the new contract, he had never played a Premier League game for the club while he has missed just four of the Blues' 79 matches since since.

And 90min report that he is set to see his earnings double to £150,000-a-week.

Manager Thomas Tuchel has made it very clear how big a fan he is of the player he inherited from former Blues manager Frank Lampard, who took Mount on loan for one season at Derby in the 2018-19 season.

'He is incredibly talented and even more importantly, he has the personality at a very young age to keep his feet on the ground, to arrive every day with a smile on his face,' Tuchel told Sky Sports earlier this year.
