Mohamed Salah sends message to Cristiano Ronaldo and Romelu Lukaku with Liverpool and FSG reminder
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah scored his 100th Premier League goal in a classic performance from the Egyptian. Leeds United simply could not cope.
Liverpool’s Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah scored his 100th Premier League goal in just 162 appearances as the Reds beat Leeds United 3-0 at Elland Road.
Salah’s goal in the 20th minute was assisted by Trent Alexander-Arnold. The full-back, coming in from the right wing, hammed a classic low drilled pass across the edge of the six-yard box into the path of Egyptian, who opened his foot up expertly to guide the ball into the far corner, much like England cricket captain Joe Root showing the face of his bat to guide a ball through third man.It was delightfully and effortlessly easy for Salah, a player already with two Premier League Golden Boot awards to his name and the all-time single-season goals record (31).
According to Simon Brundish, Salah achieved the record in just 13,014 minutes, with only Alan Shearer, Sergio Agüero and Harry Kane reaching the record in a faster time, and the Egyptian also has 40 assists to boot too — 17 more than Shearer, eight more than Agüero and 27 more than Spurs striker, Kane.
Salah's 100th goal was just one highlight in an electric and superb performance, as he shone as the best player on the pitch by a distance. Every moment he had with the ball was an opportunity not just for him, but the players around him, who took their cues and began to come to life once the ball was at Salah's feet.
